Are you being seen by a physician for your Osteoarthritis (OA) pain and are regularly taking Rx NSAIDs/analgesics and still have moderate to severe pain?

Local doctors are conducting a clinical research study of an investigational medication being studied for pain from osteoarthritis of the knee or hip. The duration of the study for study subjects will require 15 clinic visits over the course of 21 months of participation in the study. If you qualify for this study, you will receive the following:
· Investigational medication or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
· Study-related care from a local doctor
· Reimbursement may be provided for travel and other expenses related to participation.

If needed, you will also receive rescue medication, which is a medication for pain relief. Health insurance and referrals are not required to participate.

What is a Clinical Trial?

A clinical trial is a research study in which volunteers receive investigational medications or standard treatment under the supervision of a physician and other research professionals. These medications are developed by pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies who select qualified physicians, also known as investigators, to conduct clinical trials to determine the safety and potential benefits of these investigational medications.

Every clinical study is led by a principal investigator, who is often a medical doctor. Clinical studies also have a research team that may include doctors, nurses, social workers, and other health care professionals.

Your rights and safety are addressed by procedures that provide an awareness of your medical choices, of any risks or benefits, and of possible consequences of participating in research.

Additional Information

All of the information obtained during the screening process is kept confidential and secure. To determine if you meet all of the requirements for a clinical trial, a questionnaire is usually conducted during the screening process and your participation is discussed with more details. If you do qualify for the clinical trial, you will be contacted by the site staff to schedule any trial-related visits. Your participation in a clinical trial is completely voluntary. Even if you decide to enroll in a trial, you are able to leave the trial at any time.

In this clinical research study, the participants will receive an investigational medication or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) under the supervision of a doctor and other research professionals for the duration of the study.
